Halloween is quickly approaching and many who live in Encinitas will be celebrating this weekend due to the holiday falling on a Wednesday. Here are some ideas on how you can spend Halloween in Encinitas from a 35-year resident and Encinitas Realtor.
12th Annual Haunted Hotel in Olivenhain
This year is the 12th Annual Haunted Hotel presented by Boy Scout Troop 2000. At the 127-year old Hotel Germania, the scouts have set up a haunted house that will feature both tame and scary options as well as a unique attraction; Dr. Frankenstein’s working laboratory where you will be able to watch the monster come alive. There will also be a game carnival, a large outdoor screen showing Halloween cartoon movies, and refreshments. Admission is only $5.00 and part of the proceeds will benefit the restoration of the hotel. The attraction will be open both Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30pm to 9:30pm
REI Zombie Preparedness
While zombie movies have been around since the late 1960s, a resurgence in popularity stemming from the Walking Dead television show and comic book, as well as books like the Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z, has occurred in the last few years. In honor of that REI will be holding an event called, “Zombie Preparedness: Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse.” The event will be held Tuesday October 30th at 6:30pm at the San Diego REI and will take a step-by-step approach to the equipment you will need and the skills you will have to have to endure a Zombie Apocalypse. If you are interested there are only 45 seats available so you may want to reserve a spot by registering online.
Safe Trick or Treat
Each Halloween a stretch of South Coast Highway 101 is transformed into “Pumpkin Lane” with elaborately carved pumpkins and participating merchants giving out free candy to trick-or-treaters. From 5 to 8pm children can enjoy games, activities, and music at the Lumberyard Courtyard and visit other attractions in Downtown Encinitas. For more information on this event you can click here.
This is but a small list of what Encinitas has to offer for Halloween and there is more adult fare to be had this weekend in San Diego. You can view a listing of more events going on in Encinitas and San Diego by visiting this link.
